How quantum dots will promote the future development of chemical gas sensors
Quantum dots (QDs) are semiconductor nanoparticles with a wide range of optical and electronic properties. The optoelectronic properties of QDs usually depend on the size of these nanoparticles (usually in the range of 1.5 nanometers and 10 nanometers) and their overall composition.
Due to its unique characteristics, including but not limited to light stability, high extinction coefficient and brightness, and large Stokes shift, quantum dots can be successfully integrated into several different electronic and biomedical devices.
For sensor devices, some of the most common QD applications include carbon and graphene (GQD)-based QDs because of their unique luminescence and electronic properties.
