Application of vibration sensors in monitoring train bogies and unstable states

1 Project Background

The lateral stability of train bogies is an important component of the railway operation safety guarantee system, and is a key factor determining the high-speed, comfortable, and safe operation of trains. If the train experiences lateral instability during operation, it will generate significant lateral wheel rail forces, which may even cause derailment accidents in severe cases, seriously affecting the safety of train operation.

In traditional methods, regular maintenance and timely replacement of parts are carried out to prevent lateral instability of trains and ensure their safe operation. But this is only a preventive maintenance for the stability of the vehicle system itself. In the event of lateral instability caused by unexpected situations or road conditions during train operation, it is urgent to monitor the bogie vibration throughout the entire process and conduct online real-time monitoring.

It can be seen that how to achieve real-time monitoring of train lateral instability is an urgent problem that technical personnel in this field need to solve.

2 Purpose of status monitoring

The bogie monitoring system is a necessary component of train maintenance, which can identify and monitor parameters such as bearing, shaft, brake or wheel internal wear, so as to arrange maintenance work reasonably, reduce maintenance costs, and prevent unstable factors that may cause accidents.

三、Application of Senther products in orbit monitoring

1. Monitoring of lateral, vertical, and longitudinal vibration acceleration of high-speed rail bogies 836 series:

The 836 series product is a variable capacitance three-axis accelerometer used for measuring static acceleration and low-frequency vibration, characterized by the use of variable capacitance MEMS silicon chips as sensitive components. The sensitive element consists of a small inertial mass and a cantilevered flexible element located between two plates; As the mass blocks shift under acceleration, the capacitance between the electrodes also changes.

The internal signal conditioner of the 836 accelerometer outputs analog signals proportional to the applied acceleration through AC excitation and synchronous modulation and demodulation circuits; This output signal is amplified into a 4-20mA current signal proportional to the applied acceleration. This accelerometer is powered by a single ended regulated power supply of 12~30Vdc. Sensitive components and circuit components are encapsulated in 316L stainless steel enclosures for the entire line output. The cables are equipped with railway specific protective sleeves, and the terminals are equipped with railway specific connectors (HARTING) ™) The signal ground is insulated and isolated from the test object. This accelerometer can be installed using M10 metric screws or adhesive.

The 836 series accelerometer is highly suitable for various high-speed train applications that require precise measurement and reliable packaging.

2. Monitoring of lateral, vertical, and longitudinal vibration acceleration of high-speed rail bogies 816 series:

The 816 series product is a high-sensitivity variable capacitance accelerometer that can measure static acceleration and low-frequency vibration. Its feature is the use of a variable capacitance MEMS silicon chip as the sensitive element, which consists of a small inertial mass block and a flexible element located between two plates. As the mass blocks shift under acceleration, the capacitance between the plates will also change;The internal signal conditioner of the acceleration sensor, which includes communication excitation and synchronous modulation and demodulation circuits, outputs an analog output current signal proportional to the applied acceleration, with an output range of 4-20mA; The product is powered by a single ended regulated power supply with a voltage of 12~30Vdc. Sensitive components and circuit components are packaged together in a sturdy and durable anodized aluminum casing with integrated cable output, and the signal ground is insulated and isolated from the test object. The installation of the 816 accelerometer can be done using adhesive or M10 metric screws. This product is widely used in high-speed train applications for precise measurement and reliable packaging.
