On the afternoon of August 29th, Huawei released its report card for the first half of 2024.
In the first half of the year, Huawei achieved a total sales revenue of RMB 417.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 34.3%, with a net profit margin of 13.2%. Based on this calculation, Huawei's net profit for the first half of the year was 55.11 billion yuan.
By comparison, in the first half of 2023, Huawei achieved a total sales revenue of 310.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%, with a net profit margin of 15%.
In the first quarter of 2024, Huawei achieved a revenue of approximately 178.45 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 36.66%, and a net profit of approximately 19.65 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of approximately 564%.
From this, it can be seen that Huawei achieved a significant increase in revenue in the first half of this year, but its net profit margin slightly declined.
Regarding this, Huawei's rotating chairman Xu Zhijun stated that the overall operation of the company is stable and the results meet expectations. Huawei will implement the company's strategy of "high quality" throughout the entire process, continuously optimize the industrial portfolio, enhance development resilience, build a prosperous industrial ecosystem, and contribute more competitive products and solutions to customers.
It is reported that Huawei's revenue growth is mainly attributed to the rapid recovery of its consumer business, as well as the rapid development of its smart car, Huawei Cloud, and digital energy businesses.
According to IDC data, global smartphone shipments in the first half of 2024 increased by 7% year-on-year. Among them, the smartphone market in Chinese Mainland is particularly obvious. According to the data of China Information and Communication Research Institute, the number of mobile phones shipped in the Chinese market in the first half of the year reached 147 million, up 13.2% year on year.
In the first half of this year, Huawei's mobile phone sales in China saw a significant increase, with shipments growing by 41% in the second quarter and nearly 70% in the first quarter. During this period, Huawei launched flagship phones such as the Pura70 series.
It is worth mentioning that just as Huawei disclosed its semi annual report, the reporter learned that Huawei's terminal will hold a new product launch event in Shenzhen on September 10th.
A few days ago, Apple announced that its annual autumn product launch event will be held at 1am Beijing time on September 10th.
As usual in previous years, at this press conference, Apple will release its annual iPhone series new products. This year, multiple new products such as iPhone 16 will be released, and some old models will be gradually phased out. The sales of the new products are expected to start around September 20th.
At the same time, in previous years, during Apple's press conferences, Huawei also released its annual flagship phones and other new products, such as the Mate series.
However, it is still unknown whether Huawei will launch the new Mate70 series at the Huawei terminal launch event on September 10th.
